Power Please!

It's been too long since I posted something. It's not like nothing has happened lately: First Communion Class, my Mom's 60th birthday, an arcade machine exploding, and not having power at home for almost a day. I know you want to hear about the explosion but you'll have to wait until I can get the pictures. So, for now you get the power story.

From Monday around 7pm till sometime late afternoon Tuesday (July 4th!) I had no power at home. I came home around 8pm on Monday and tried to turn a light on. Frustrated at hitting the button over and over I just couldn't figure out why the stupid thing wouldn't turn on. Duh! I looked around the kitchen and realized the microwave and stove weren't lit up. No power, no light.

It's true what they say, really true, you don't know what you got 'til it's gone! I go cave exploring so flashlights aren't a problem in my house but no power means: no air-conditioning or fans, no stove or microwave to cook with, stuff in the fridge will go bad (I have to throw everything away now), can't watch TV, can't use the phone (cordless phones need power), no internet or email. It's amazing how many things take power. Thankfully some things still work: toliets, flashlights, and gas stoves (I made at least a can of soup Monday night).

What about Spirit power, faith power, Christian power, God power, or whatever you want to refer to it as? What if you didn't have a church? What if your connection to God was shut off? Jesus says, "I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you." We can cut off the connection with God but God will never leave us. Even more so, "for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

Appreciate the faith you have, that God has graced you with many blessings this summer. Even in a 16+hour power outage God was with me. Even in the long summer days where your connection to church and God may be powering down, it's not powered off. God is still there, waiting, wanting you to power up and help others, know others, and know God.

Peace!
